Description
The Ironclad Triple Threat TPT553-LG Adjustable Basketball System answers the question every hoop-shopping parent eventually asks: can we get a bigger backboard without taking over the whole driveway? Ironclad built it as the perfect driveway hoop for families who want a larger 60 inch tempered glass backboard, and it also works well for downsized backyard courts.
The 36 inch offset from post to backboard keeps the goal compact for driveways and tighter spaces, while the one-piece 5 inch, 7 gauge square post stays rock steady under the heaviest slam dunk action. The 36 inch by 60 inch board is 1/2 inch thick tempered glass, so every bank shot comes off the glass the way it should.
Adjusts From 10 Feet Down to 5.5 Feet
Ironclad's spring-assist crank carries the weight of the backboard, so raising the rim is just as easy as lowering it, and the TPT553-LG goes all the way down to 5.5 feet, the lowest adjustment height Ironclad offers. The rim height indicator reads out the exact height, and the breakaway rim and net give a little when a player hangs on and then spring back.
Padding and Anchor Kit Come Free
There is no padding upcharge here: Ironclad includes both the post pad and the backboard pad with the TPT553-LG. The same goes for mounting hardware: the anchor kit is included with every new TPT553-LG.
Made to Handle the Weather
Weather Shield protection layers black powder coat over a zinc galvanized undercoat for a tough weather barrier, and the assembly bolts are stainless steel. A bolt-down post design simplifies installation and allows the goal to be relocated if your family moves.
Your Ironclad Lifetime Warranty
Before you order, open the Warranty tab and read the Ironclad Sports lifetime warranty; it is one of the best reasons to put an Ironclad in your driveway. Damage caused by any basketball related activity is covered, dunking and hanging on the rim included. The warranty is for the original owner, is non-transferable, and is limited to units installed at a single family dwelling, so the TPT553-LG is a home goal not warrantied for commercial use. Painted items have a one year limited warranty on the coating, the padding has a one year limited warranty, and vandalism, extreme weather and normal weathering or UV wear are not covered.

TPT553-LG Common Questions
Driveway or backyard? Both. Ironclad calls it a perfect driveway hoop and notes it works well for downsized backyard courts.
Why tempered glass? It is the material all competition backboards use, the same kind of glass as a car windshield, with very lively ball bounce.
How much room should I leave behind the post? About 18 inches to the nearest wall or obstruction, per Ironclad, so cranking is comfortable.
Setting up a backyard half court? The Ironclad Triple Threat TPT554-LG pairs the same 60 inch board with a 48 inch offset. Replacement parts for the TPT553-LG include the TPT-LG backboard, TPT-32 flex rim, CRKACT-3 crank actuator, SPRCYLDR spring assist and the 5 inch BB55-PP and BB55-GP pads.
